A BRIEF HISTORY OF RAINCO

RAINCO of Dallas was formed as a sole proprietorship on January 16, 1987 in Dallas, Texas, by Joseph L. Rainier. Joe founded the company within two days of his "retirement" at age 65, which capped a 23 year-long career managing Newman Engineered Equipment. At first, RAINCO was a non-stocking distributor for Siemens-Allis (now Siemens) PLCs.

Joel Rainier, who had worked with his father at Newman Engineered Equipment, and previously with Siemens, joined him in business on August 28, 1987.  Joel immediately began developing the industrial electrical distribution part of RAINCO. To quote Joel: "With the initial help of Siemens, we got our feet wet with PLCs and then, in 1988, Honeywell (Micro Switch) granted our company a limited line distributorship for photoelectric and proximity sensors. Since that time, RAINCO has obtained the entire Honeywell line of industrial sensors and switches." In 1992, IDEC was added as a principal product line.

In 1988, the company was re-formed as a Texas corporation.
